Undergraduate Researcher Sanghyun Lee Awarded Best Paper Presentation at the 2024 Autumn Conference of the Korean Institute of Interior Design(KIID)

Sanghyun Lee, an undergraduate researcher affiliated with SELab, was awarded the Best Paper Presentation prize at the 2024 Autumn Conference of the Korean Institute of Interior Design.

His presentation was grounded in a practice-based research project centred on the design of a healing pavilion located on Mt Muak. The study critically examined themes such as the relationship between humans and nature, the construction of sensory experience, and the material properties of materials employed in spatial design.

By synthesising design practice with theoretical inquiry, the research offered a nuanced spatial interpretation of the restorative potential embedded in natural environments, and was commended for its scholarly rigour and design sensitivity.
